Winter Arts and Crafts for Kids (and Big People too)
It’s officially the first day of winter, so let’s talk winter crafts. Here are 10 ideas to get you started:
- Make an adorable skier from a pinecone, acorn and Popsicle sticks. Popsicle sticks form the skis, the pinecone is the body and the acorn is the head. You can make ski poles out of toothpicks too.
- Who says paper snowflakes have to be white? Have some fun with color.
- Scissors with patterned edges can add attractive elements to paper snowflakes.
- 2 or 3 white paper plates make a great snowman. Just add boots, arms, a scarf and a face.
- Make sparkly paper snowflakes by adding some spray glitter.
- Inexpensive stretchy knit gloves are a great crafting canvas. Decorate with yarn, felt and other embellishments.
- Q-tip snowflakes can be simple or as elaborate as your want. Just glue Q-tips on construction paper in desired shapes.
- Turn an upside down painted clay pot into a snowman. Glue on a foam ball for a head and decorate.
- Quick and fun snowboarder craft: A Popsicle stick forms the snowboard and pipe cleaners can be shaped into a snowboarder figure.
- Fireplace in a lunch bag craft. Draw brick patterns onto a paper bag, fill with paper ready for recycling. Use orange and red construction paper to form the fire and glue it on the fireplace. You can recycle the project when you’re done.
